Help For Lexy Surgery

August 14, 2024, our dear Lexy suffered an unfortunate accident and we had to bring her to the Animal emergency hospital in Ottawa VCA Canada Alta Vista Animal Hospital and resulted in a humerus fracture. It was a devastating injury for her and all of us, requiring expensive surgery to give her a chance to regain her mobility and quality of life.

Lexy was about 10 - 11 months old when we adopted her unexpectedly, 3 months ago! Her previous owner had to abandon her for some reasons. Though the story was odd and no goodbye was made, she hopped in the car and came home with us! Sat down quietly in the back seat like a little angel. In no time, she became best friends with Jacko, a comfort for my anxiety and a big part of our family.

On August 14, Lexy was running with Jacko and then she stopped to sniff the grass while Jacko kept on running and came back... He usually jumps over her if she is in the way but not this time. He bumped into her, she fell and made a tunnel before trying to get back up. That's when she started to howl in pain. I rushed towards her panicking and somehow my hand was bitten and stuck until I pulled... (Do not approach any animal in pain) Fractured elbow, she was really in bad pain. My girlfriend stayed with Lexy while I left for about 40 minutes to see a nurse and get the vaccine. We tried to get a vet at home but he was busy and could only come at the end of the day. We decided to bring her to the Canada Alta Vista Animal Hospital and the result came in as a humerus fracture. We had to wait for the surgery call as we opted to be referred because the cost was way too much at that place. (2500$ to 3500$ instead of 6000$ to 8000$)

The following day of the incident, my girlfriend sent a message to her boss to let her know what had happened and that she will cancel her only client for that day as she needs to help me with Lexy... Well, she got fired! One hour later we received the call for the surgery. Seeing Lexy suffering was extremely difficult for us and as soon as we received the call, we did what was best and went with the surgery on the same day. (You can read the full story on our GoFundMe page updates)

Emergency Hospital: 879.00$ (August 14) Surgery: 3400.00$ (August 15) Extras: Diapers, pads, wipes, cone, other.

Unfortunately, the costs for this operation were expensive. However, we knew we had to do everything in our power to help Lexy, which is why we decided to reach out for support. Lexy is so young, with so much life ahead of her, and we’re determined to see her through this.

I'm turning to you today to ask for a helping hand with the costs of the operation and post-operative care, if you can. Any contribution, large or small, would go a long way. Even if you can't help financially, sharing our story is already valuable support.
